Due to certain phenomena that occurs along the line that divides the northern and southern hemisphere (a.k.a the Equator) gravity can actually help you balance an egg — stand it straight up — over the head of a nail, as the yolk is being pulled straight down towards the center of the Equator.

One fine day I went to La Mitad del Mundo with my friend Clara, the most awesome coreana-boliviana-bacana that you see pictured in the sequence of photos above, to put this phenomena to the test.

Unfortunately, all of my tests proved false (Or rather I couldn’t balance the egg myself), but I was quite happy to witness and capture the exact moment in which Clara was able to “hit the nail on the head” and stand that bad-boy right on up.  I love her expression in the third photo. She looks so happy and proud of herself. And I couldn’t be more proud of the photos that resulted from our efforts!!!
